Intro to Digital Audio songwriting software: MUSESCORE (8-12 yrs old)

Course Description:

In this course, students will learn how to use  MuseScore software to transcribe and create their own sheet music. We will learn to format clear and legible scores, notate various instruments and ensembles, add key signatures, dynamics, articulations, and more! To practice these skills, students will follow along with the instructor to transcribe the holiday classic "Winter Wonderland". 

This workshop will prepare students to create their own professionally formatted sheet music. 

To prepare for this workshop, students must

  1. Download free MuseScore software: https://musescore.org/en/download
  2. Optional - students may connect a MIDI or USB keyboard to their computer for note input. However, this is not required.

Instructor: Alex Whorms

Alex whorms was classically trained on piano and voice from childhood, Alex Whorms is an RCM-certified music teacher, composer and performer. She has toured across Ontario and New York City, and her music has been played on television, radio, and film. She was the recipient of the 2019 Hamilton Arts Award for Emerging Artist in Music.
